Have a Vintage Autumn with Fall Fashion

The best time of the year is here: Autumn. And since I usually stock the shop year-round with sweaters, cardigans, and denim, there is no lack of it now when we all need them. I'm always, always listing sweaters. I find that folks -- also in the states-- are thinking about sweaters even when it's summer... in anticipation of fall and winter.  I sure do this! So because of that, I've got about 75 sweaters and cardigans  and jackets (for men and women) ready to purchase or nearly ready to be listed.  Now, just like I list sweaters in the off-season, I also list short sleeves tops in the fall and winter. It's always good to be ready!  I just found these two beauties. Gorgeous embroidered Oaxacan style blouses. In the shop as soon as possible, and I have more already available. And as for denim, it's always denim season. It doesn't matter the weather, denim is where it's at. I've never sold Wrangler jeans before, but I just picked up a pair for women and I

Literary Quotes │ Vintage Typewriter │ Vintage Typed Quotes

I've been selling vintage clothing on Etsy for over 11 years. I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's the best "job" I've ever had. I love it more than words can say. Which is why it's quite apropos that I'm introducing a new item to my shop: Vintage-typed Literary Quotes For those who don't know, I'm a writer by trade. I went to school to become one and I am one now. From freelance writing to writing/editing as a content coordinator for a local magazine, to writing marketing copy, I do a lot of writing. So, when I had my vintage Royal, O tyle, portable 1938 typewriter repaired, I thought to myself:  Why not mix the best of both worlds? If I thought I loved selling vintage before, this might be the proverbial icing on the cake.  NOW I get to selling vintage-typed literary quotes!  It will take time, and maybe forever, to find quotes that I like and want to list. I love so many and I've read many books. But, simple words for ma

How to Wear Vintage with Style │ An Etsy Guidebook

I wear vintage a lot.  As in, every day a lot. This is partly because of three reasons: I love vintage, I collect vintage, and I sell vintage.  Because I'm fully immersed in the vintage world, it has slowly made its way into all parts of my wardrobe. And I couldn't be happier about it. Also as someone fully immersed in this vintage world, I get asked questions about how to wear vintage. Should I wear this? Can I add this piece to my wardrobe? How do I wear vintage? Does this vintage item make me look like I'm wearing a costume? From Instagram to my Etsy store, folks ask me these questions regularly. So I wrote a little guidebook about this topic. And it's now available to purchase! This guidebook is called How to Wear Vintage With Style. It costs as little as a good cup of coffee and it will show you how simple it really is to add vintage to your wardrobe with ease and style. And if you like thrift stores and estate sales, it can be extremely economical and fun playin

How to Sell on Etsy │ A Seller's Guidebook

A few weeks ago, Chicken Soup for the Soul released their latest book. It's called Be You and it's a fantastic compilation of women writers writing about affirmation, determination, and female empowerment. Buy it here ! You may be curious as to why I'm talking about this on this vintage blog. Good question. I was one of the lucky ladies chosen to have their story accepted into this book. For that, I'm humbly grateful. I read through the entire book when I got my advanced copy and seriously wondered how my story got in there. There are so many great, courageous, endearing, and funny stories. I was overwhelmed. This is a must-read, ladies and gents. It's a truly inspirational read, to be certain. My story was about starting and opening my vintage Etsy store. And as I read through the book, and even reread my story, I thought to myself: Why not write a guidebook on HOW to start an Etsy store? Sure, I'd written how-to articles before. After all, I had the same sto

How to Jazz up your Wardrobe with Vintage Pieces

Do you like wearing vintage clothing? Or are you still trying to figure out if it’s right for you? Short answer: If you like vintage, you should wear it! It doesn’t matter your age, and it doesn’t matter what kinds of vintage you like, vintage is for everyone. Having sold vintage exclusively for over ten years now, vintage clothing and accessories are a huge part of my life. I’ve integrated them into my wardrobe for daily use: whether the entire outfit is true vintage (meaning every piece I’m wearing is legitimately old), or if the whole outfit is new except for the vintage belt I wanted to sport! But I get asked a lot by folks how to add vintage into their wardrobes and I thought I’d write about it. It’s really not a difficult endeavor to accomplish. It comes down to figuring out what you already wear, and switching out the new for the old. Here are a few very simple ways to add that perfect vintage piece into your wardrobe that doesn’t cost a fortune and makes you feel as unique as
