Perennial Vintage Turns Ten

Winter Sweaters in the Shop
It's hard to believe for me, but on November 30th, 2010 I began my foray into the world of Etsy vintage. A lot has changed since then. And I don't mean just in the world. I mean in Etsy itself. When I opened shop a decade ago, there were so few sellers compared to now, and things sold much faster because there was such little competition.

But competition is good. It makes us more creative and promotes grit: both of which are necessary for growth and success. And I have to say, this has been THE MOST creative, fun, rewarding, and exciting work I've ever had. I took a hobby and learned to make a little profit from it on the side.

Even though this is a business for me now, selling vintage is still my hobby. While it's nice to monetarily benefit from it, it isn't the only reason I do it. The reason I sell vintage is simple: I love vintage.
I want to preserve it, research it, wear it, love it, talk about it, and naturally, I want to sell  it. I want to share the passion I have for it with you.

In honor of my Etsy shop, Perennial Vintage, going ten years strong, this Saturday begins a sale I've never done before. My entire shop (minus two items) will be 40% off for ten days; one day for each year I've been in business.

40% off!! That's a crazy good sale, folks. And I want to say THANK YOU for being so amazing to me; for supporting me, for loving what I sell, for writing fantastic reviews, for having patience with me from typos in the listing, to wrong sizing, to wrong items sent to the wrong people! I've done it all. But, I'm so grateful for all of you.

'50s Kids Cowichan Cardigan
Saturday the 21st through the 30th of November, the ENTIRE store will be 40% off. It hits Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and every day in between.

I've stocked it with tons of sweaters, denim, wool and more. And I can't wait to see you there.

Visit PERENNIAL VINTAGE today to get a preview! Load items up into your cart, and wait until Saturday to  buy. Believe me...when they're gone they are GONE. So get ' em as soon as you can.

Thank you. ♥

To all of you.

It's a Cruel Summer

This year has been far from ordinary. With COVID-19 going on strong for nearly six months, and nothing operating "normally" like it use to, now Northern California has wildfires to contend with -- right after emerging from a heat wave from hell. (112 degrees is no joke.)

Vintage Wool Sweaters
The fires are still a ways away, but that doesn't keep ash from blowing over thirty miles from the ignition spot and into the entire Sacramento region, blocking the sun, inhibiting proper breathing, and giving us even less outdoor time than before.

Regardless, such is life. And when it rains (proverbially), by golly, it pours. The good news is I can now get back to thrifting (it was a joyous day about two months ago when we were allowed back in) and back into buying and selling vintage again.

Lately, the finds have been awesome. It may be because there was a lack of buying from me for so many months, or because everyone went through their houses from top to bottom, due to the Corona virus keeping us holed up in our homes. Or maybe both.

Whatever the reason, I'm happy. I have a beautiful 1970s India-made sundress coming soon. I've only found two of these (in nearly ten years), so I'm thrilled.

Plus, as usual, I have tons of denim, linen, and wool coming down the line -- just in time for Fall.

Memorial Day is coming with a 20% off sale, so if you have your eye on something, that will be the time to get it!

Thank you to all who continue to support my small business. I love what I do and I thank you "big" from the bottom of my heart.♥

A Vintage Summer

70s Prairie Dress
Though summer isn't officially here until tomorrow, I thought I'd get a jump on it (before it gets me with its' heat and often questionably warm nights) and give a sneak peak at a few items coming to the shop.

This amazing prairie dress is one of my newest finds. These are in-demand and rather hard to come by. With a cool long sleeve and just-below-knee length, it can work well in cooler summer nights out and about town, or for early autumn days and night. She's a beauty. Find her right here◄.

I also just found these incredible high-waisted, denim capri pants, circa very late '60s to early '70s. Made with a super comfy cotton (and a bit of stretch) along with those nautical style buttons and waist, they're adorable. Coming soon!

I also have a pair of (high-waisted) military 1969 OG-107 pants.◄ Made for men, but ladies, these are all yours too. I own and wear two pair. Can't live without them. This pair is made of all cotton, are in excellent condition; they double as lounge wear, they're so comfortable.

Along with tops and tees, shorts and skirts, I've got you covered all summer long.  Come take a peak. And right now, I'm having a 15% off for Father's Day weekend.  Get 'em before they're gone!

Vintage Strong

The quarantine may have set the entire world back a month or three, but I have to thank the vintage community for supporting my small business during these turbulent times.
denim and linen ♥

While new merchandise isn't exactly available (of course, something I am frustrated with), I'm finding ways around it in creative, new ways. I'm going through my own closet (which is filled with vintage) and selling those items I don't wear. I'm going through my bins of vintage and finding items I hadn't even listed yet.
neutrals ...

I also have not one but two, friends, donating me their vintage clothing. This is truly remarkable and blows me away. So, the influx of inventory may not be in great amounts but instead in a small, steady trickle ... which I'm so grateful for.

The tortoise wins the race, after all. I'm gonna go with that.

this sweater, ◄available!
And if there's isn't anything more "slow living" than have my inventory reduced, for my "slow fashion" business, then obviously I'm learning what I need to learn. I'm in the business of living slow, so if my business has slowed down, then all is as it should be.

As it is though, sales are up. Thank you from the bottom from my heart to all who support me in these difficult times. We will get through it, and meanwhile, I've still got hundreds of vintage items to sell to you! The whole shop is 20% off the entire month of April.

Happy New Year - 2020 │ Vintage Fashion

So Springy!
Happy New Year!

This is the start of my tenth year selling vintage, specifically through Etsy. While I've loved vintage and thrifted for roughly the last 30 years, I've been lucky enough to call this hobby my "work." This November will make it ten years of the best, part time hobby ever.

Mickey, I love you.
Spring is on the way! As I write this, though it's January, we're hitting the mid 60s outside, which has me thinking all sorts of Spring things. Look at this color palette I just picked up. It's perfectly spring. And now, all in the shop. The color of the year is Classic Blue, so you can be sure I"ll be loading the store with lots of blue things (besides denim. Hooray!)

I also just picked up this wonderful retro 70s / 80s Mickey ringer tshirt, straight from Disneyland park. It'll be in the shop in a day or two, so snag it before someone else does. The tees are perfect for summer! They go with just about everything from shorts to skirts to jeans to overalls.

1940s cardigan ♥
And then, not to push too quickly into Spring, I have to remind you that I have a ton of sweaters, cardigans, jackets and coats still available. All right here. ◄There is another couple months of winter yet, and Spring doesn't always guarantee warm days, so I'm not done with sweaters. Besides, they're my favorite item of clothing, so I'll never be done with them.

Visit the shop today and see what's new! Send me a message via Etsy if you're looking for something specific, or to see if I'll be getting more of a particular item in. Always here to help you. Visit my shop, Perennial Vintage, for more.

Happy New Year. To new opportunities, hopes, loves and living, my friends.
