I love Christmas as much as the next person. And like so many people, it's my favorite time of the year. But, this year -- for various reasons -- I was annoyed that I had to put my decor out. As if it was one more thing I had to do. And I didn't want to. It meant unloading everything from the attic space in the garage. It was a thousand more decisions as to where to put everything and what to put out.
For the first time ever, I thought about not decorating. How very Scrooge-like of me.
Perhaps it's because this year has been crazy-busy that made me apathetic to the season, but as soon as the boxes came out, as soon as the Christmas music played, as soon as my kids decorated the tree, I understood why I did this. It was for them. It was for tradition. And very much like sitting down to write a story, starting it is the hardest part. But once it is begun, everything else falls into place. The Christmas spirit is here and I'm so glad it is.
Merry Christmas everyone.
